Seligman Car Show – May 2018

by on Oct.26, 2018, under Area

On our way back from Havasu Falls, we stopped in Seligman for a bit.  They were having an auto rally of some sort (common thing in Seligman).

We really enjoyed seeing beautifully restored versions of the cars of our youth.

May 2018 Visit

by on Oct.26, 2018, under Area

With about a 2-hour drive from our Ranch, there is a beautiful place to visit.  The Havasupai Indian Reservation is north of Peach Springs.  With a bit of hiking, you are immersed into a Sangri-La atnosphere of blue waters and 200 foot waterfalls.  IT is well worth the trip, if you are up to it.  The only way in and out is to hike 11 miles each way, or take a helicopter.

In early May, Tara, Jessica and I went up to hike to Havasu Falls.  We spent 3 days hiking in, around and out of the area near the bottom of the Grand Canyon.  It is an amazing trip, and was well worth the effort to get there.

Ranch Visit 06/16/2011

by on Jun.28, 2011, under Seasons

I brought the two grandsons up to the ranch for a long weekend in mid-june.

While I was mostly working on an antenna, they had a lot of fun out riding their bikes all over.
They took several trips around the roads surrounding our ranch, making a loop of about 2-1/2 or 3 miles each time.
They really like going downhill, as Mesa doesn’t habe much in the way of hills to ride bikes on.
Going uphill was tolerated, in order to go downhill…

Here they are posing by the tilt-over mount for the antenna we built…

Spring Critters

by on May.28, 2011, under Seasons

We made two trips up in April and May.  The weather was very nice for both trips, with no rain, and highs in the mid-60’s to mid 70’s both times.

During the April trip, we found that we needed to be very careful where we stepped, because we didn’t want to kill any of the multitudes of catepillers that were all over the ground.  It seemed like there was at least one every 10 feet or so.  I don’t know what kind of butterfly/moth these turn into, but it seems that later in the summer, we always have a bunch of the little yellow butterflies flying around, so maybe that’s them.

April 2010 Ranch Visit

by on Apr.23, 2010, under Seasons

We didn’t do a lot of recreational stuff during our visit this April, as we only had a couple of days and wanted to get the plumbing finished.
We did go for a little hike while I was testing out another cellphone for the Ranch.

While we were out hiking, Remy (our dog) found a deer skull from a relatively fresh kill.  We’re guessing coyote or mountain lion made the kill, as hunters would have taken the head with them to prove their deer was a buck.  Also, this was a pretty small deer.
