A Trip to Town

A Trip to Town by rdpecken on Jul.07, 2010, under Area My good friend John was up for ham radio “Field Day” and it was getting hot on Sunday, with not much breeze.  We decided a trip into Seligman to get some ice and maybe a malt was in order..   Sno-Cap Diner   We looked for the back way out to Route 66 from the ranch last year, but were foiled by a locked gate after dozens of miles of backroad 4-wheeling.  Several more miles later, we finally made our way to the highway.  This year we were successful in finding our way out. We headed west down Bullit road, then wound our way a couple more miles west, then turned north.  After about 5 more miles we came upon Pica road.   Pica Road   We followed Pica road all the way to Route 66, where we found a gate, but it wasn’t locked this time.  We entered the highway at Pica Crossing.   Pica Crossing Once we got to town, we made our way to the Sno-Cap to get a ...

What’s in Seligman?? by admin on Mar.31, 2004, under Area Westside Lilo’s This little cafe on the West side of town will really fill you up. They specialize in German food, but their other stuff is good too. We’ve had their Country Fried Steaks and enjoyed them. Her desserts are huge and delicious.   West Side Lilos Roadkill Cafe You Kill It, We Grill It… Despite the name, this cafe has pretty good food, too. We’ve had their steak, which tasted fine to us.  We generally try to go early to avoid crowds.   Road Kill Cafe Copper Cart This place has really good breakfast. And the help is friendly here, too.  It closed down in 2007, but we hope someday it will reopen.   Copper Cart Cafe Tourist Trap Here is one of the local tourist trap trinket stores.  The tour buses always stop here.   Tourist Trap Snow Cap Here is a rather famous place in town. The Sno Cap is run by the Delgadado family, who do everything they can to kee...

Hauling Water from Town by admin on Aug.30, 2003, under Area You can get 50 gallons of water in Seligman for a quarter, which is inserted into a mechanism that resembles a do-it-yourself carwash controller.   Water Standpipe in Seligman The Standpipe is reached by turning south by the Copper Cart Restaurant, turn east at the Tee, go about 2 blocks. You can’t miss it. The standpipe is near the railroad tracks. It is very easy to use, but the water comes out too fast to easily fill small containers. We just use a couple of 32 gallon plastic trash containers, filling them less than half full, so they aren’t too top heavy.   Filling up with Water
