Seligman Car Show – May 2018

by on Oct.26, 2018, under Area

On our way back from Havasu Falls, we stopped in Seligman for a bit.  They were having an auto rally of some sort (common thing in Seligman).

We really enjoyed seeing beautifully restored versions of the cars of our youth.

May 2018 Visit

by on Oct.26, 2018, under Area

With about a 2-hour drive from our Ranch, there is a beautiful place to visit.  The Havasupai Indian Reservation is north of Peach Springs.  With a bit of hiking, you are immersed into a Sangri-La atnosphere of blue waters and 200 foot waterfalls.  IT is well worth the trip, if you are up to it.  The only way in and out is to hike 11 miles each way, or take a helicopter.

In early May, Tara, Jessica and I went up to hike to Havasu Falls.  We spent 3 days hiking in, around and out of the area near the bottom of the Grand Canyon.  It is an amazing trip, and was well worth the effort to get there.

Spring Critters

by on May.28, 2011, under Seasons

We made two trips up in April and May.  The weather was very nice for both trips, with no rain, and highs in the mid-60’s to mid 70’s both times.

During the April trip, we found that we needed to be very careful where we stepped, because we didn’t want to kill any of the multitudes of catepillers that were all over the ground.  It seemed like there was at least one every 10 feet or so.  I don’t know what kind of butterfly/moth these turn into, but it seems that later in the summer, we always have a bunch of the little yellow butterflies flying around, so maybe that’s them.

Memorial Day 2009

by on Jun.04, 2009, under Seasons

We were pretty lucky with weather for this trip. However, just as we were arriving at Anvil Rock, it started raining. By the time we got to Markham Pass, the road had turned to butter again. But we made it through ok.

The rest of the week was pretty nice. It typically clouded up by noon, and kept it cool in the afternoon. On Friday, we got about a full hour of steady rain. When it finished, we went outside and enjoyed the nature after the rain.

May Day, 2009 Trip

by on May.04, 2009, under Seasons

We left Mesa on May Day, 2009 for a quick trip up to the ranch.
For this trip, our main project was to touch up the trim paint where it had been peeled off by the masking tape removal.

We started out from Mesa at about 09:00 am, and arrived at the Ranch at about 1:00 pm. The forecast was for rain all Saturday afternoon, so we thought we better get the paint touch up done on Friday. We were able to finish the painting by about 6:00, and took the rest of the day off.

The next day, the rain did not materialize, and we just had a little cooler temperatures (about 65 degrees), and some wind. In between our other projects, we installed a Game Camera in the meadow.

We didn’t capture any photos over the weekend, so we will check it again when we come up at the end of the month.
