Seligman Car Show – May 2018

by on Oct.26, 2018, under Area

On our way back from Havasu Falls, we stopped in Seligman for a bit.  They were having an auto rally of some sort (common thing in Seligman).

We really enjoyed seeing beautifully restored versions of the cars of our youth.

May 2018 Visit

by on Oct.26, 2018, under Area

With about a 2-hour drive from our Ranch, there is a beautiful place to visit.  The Havasupai Indian Reservation is north of Peach Springs.  With a bit of hiking, you are immersed into a Sangri-La atnosphere of blue waters and 200 foot waterfalls.  IT is well worth the trip, if you are up to it.  The only way in and out is to hike 11 miles each way, or take a helicopter.

In early May, Tara, Jessica and I went up to hike to Havasu Falls.  We spent 3 days hiking in, around and out of the area near the bottom of the Grand Canyon.  It is an amazing trip, and was well worth the effort to get there.

New Ranch Truck

by on Jun.03, 2012, under Area

We got a new truck for the Ranch in March.  This was our first trip up with it.  The truck is a 2012 Dodge Ram 1500, with 4×4 and a regular cab.  It also has a towing package, but not much else.  I’ll bet you didn’t know you could still get hand cranked windows, did you??  Anyway, this has the 5.7 Liter Hemi V8 to help pull loads up the hill.  And we should not have to worry about getting stuck in the muddy road if it rains or snows.  We donated our little black Nissan to a good cause.

A Little Adventure

by on Oct.02, 2011, under Area

On all of our trips to the Ranch, we pass by a turnoff that says, “Perkinsville – XX Miles” (I don’t remember how many miles, maybe 17 or so…)

So on this trip, on the way back, we came up on that sign again, and I thought, “Maybe this is a shortcut to I-17… Seems like about the right distance.”

So As I was making the turn to Perkinsville, I asked John, “Are you up for a little adventure?”.  Turns out, it was a little more than I expected.  The road started out as a nice paved two-lane road going to the Drake Cement Plant.  Within just a couple of miles, we got the dreaded sign that says something like… “Travel at your own risk, unmaintained road”.  But the road was still in pretty good shape, so we decided to continue on.  Here is the path we ended up taking.  Starting at Drake, and ending up in Jerome, AZ.

A Trip to Town

by on Jul.07, 2010, under Area

My good friend John was up for ham radio “Field Day” and it was getting hot on Sunday, with not much breeze.  We decided a trip into Seligman to get some ice and maybe a malt was in order..
