Because we were working in the dark, our gable ends did not turn out all that well.

We ended up having to splice this one on top, because it was not pulled high enough when we put it on.

I’ll probably order some more gable trim and redo these in the future, as it looks kind of shoddy up close.

You don’t notice it so much without the zoom lens, but I will always know it is there…

Our inexperience bit us on this one, too. We just couldn’t get the gable trim pieces to fit under the ridge cap, and overlap each other as the illustration in the instructions showed.

Again, I’ll need to fix this at some point, or it will drive me crazy.

All in all, I have to say that this looks like a great roof! It went on much easier than asphalt shingles, and should be cooler in the summer.

The panels were very easy. After placing the first panel, you place screws in the side away from the gable. Then you use the gable trim pieces to hold down the gable side.

Then the next panel just snaps into place on the rib of the first, and you screw down the other edge, and so on…

When you get to the last panel on a side, you trim it to fit flat against one of the surfaces of the gable trim, and install the gable trim on that end, using appropriate sealing materials (butyl tape or caulk).

It looks great from the front of the house, too.

The ridge cap was the last piece to go on. We ended up cutting some carpet scraps and lining our aluminum ladder with them to prevent damaging the metal roof.

Then we laid the ladder over the ridge, with ladder hooks to keep it in place. We had to put some scrap lumber under the ridge cap to prevent the ladder hooks from damaging it when we put the last piece of ridge cap on.

I’m very happy with how it turned out. Not bad for a couple of amateurs!
